The Westin Monache, Mammoth, to Open Whitebark, An Innovative Restaurant that Combines the Ambiance of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with an Exceptional Culinary Experience Mammoth Lakes, Calif.
(Fall/Winter 2007) - When the Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth opens early this winter it will be home to the Whitebark restaurant and bar, inspired by the surrounding mountains, streams and national parks, and a commitment to exceptional cuisine and service. Whitebark's interior will embrace Mother Nature's finest creations, combining traditional rustic alpine architecture with an updated, contemporary flair. Activity is centered on an open fire burning warmly in the middle of the room, accentuated by stone sculptures and accents, reclaimed wood, sculptures and pictures of wildlife. Befitting of a restaurant that pays tribute to this country's National Parks, Whitebark will serve an array of wide-ranging American fare with an emphasis on seasonal, healthful menu items. The open kitchen will showcase the technique of plancha (metal plate grilling) for specialties such steaks, sautéing fresh fish and unique pizza creations.
An extensive wine list, including vintages from the West
Coast as well as international Alpine wines from Switzerland, the Italian Alps, and Alsace, will complement the restaurant's casual and creative cuisine. Whitebark will seat up to 200 guests and be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Gallery, a private dining room, is also available for special functions.
