The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth To Host a Line-Up of Alfresco Events Designed to Help Visitors Enjoy a Spectacular Summer Season at Mammoth Lakes.  Poolside Activities Include the Brew Master Event and Epicurean Celebration

Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (June 16, 2009) - There's something special about being outside at Mammoth Lakes in the summer. The fresh alpine air and the stunning scenery combine to reinvigorate even the most tired travelers. To celebrate this special season, The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth, is hosting a number of poolside events designed to appeal to guests who want to savor the great outdoors while at the same time appreciate the finer things in life.

From beer and wine tasting to a Hawaiian Luau, The Westin Monache Resort gives visitors plenty of ways to enjoy Mammoth alfresco. Friday, June 19 - Sunday, June 21 - The Summer Kick-Off Expo at The Village at Mammoth celebrates the beginning of one of the most spectacular seasons at Mammoth. An outdoor sports industry fair highlighting fly fishing, mountain biking, camping, and hiking, bicycle trials demo, whole
foods and nutrition, food and beverage booths and live music will start the summer off right.

On Sunday, June 21, the Bacardi Summer Kick-Off Party at The Westin Pool from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. complements The Summer Kick-Off Expo at The Villiage. The band "Still Time" will entertain guests and there will be Tacos and BBQ available for purchase along with discounted Bacardi Drinks. Admission is $15 at the door.

Sunday, July 12 - The spirit of the islands arrives in Mammoth when The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth hosts a Hawaiian Luau from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at The Westin pool. Guests can feast on roast pig and traditional Hawaiian accompaniments while listening to the Hawaiian rock band "Lava Moon." Advanced purchase tickets are available for $25. Call 760-934-0460. Thursday, July 30 - Beer lovers will gather at The Westin pool from 4 to 8 p.m. for the Brew Master Event, which is a festive start to the Bluesapalooza weekend July 31 - August 2. Mammoth Brewing Company will serve plenty of cool beers at the Brew Master Event while the bluegrass sounds of "Old Coyote Moon/Sweetwater String Band" entertain guests. Admission is $15 at the door. Friday, August 14 - Wine lovers can enjoy fine vintages while relaxing poolside and listening to thesounds of "Soul Reason Jazz." Winemakers will have their booths set up at The Westin pool from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wineries include Samsara, Foxen, Larkmead and Clesi. Guest chef Neal Fraser from Grace Restaurant will pair the wines with food at each booth. Tickets are available for $30. Call 760-934-0460. Tickets available at the door while supplies last.

Friday, September 4 - Food and wine lovers enjoy a food and wine pairing Epicurean Event at The Westin pool from 5 to 9 p.m. Celebrity chefs will each prepare small plates of epicurean delights with food and wine pairings at each booth. Live entertainment and a cash bar will also be available. Please call 760-934-0460 for ticket pricing. Tickets also sold at the door while supplies last. The party continues the next day at The Village at Mammoth with the Taste of Mammoth on Saturday, September 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. and the Chili Cook Off at The Village on Sunday, September 6.

Live Music - The hills are alive with the sound of music when The Westin Monache Resort hosts poolside live bands throughout the summer including the reggae sounds of "Raiz Muzik" on Sunday, July 19, the bluegrass sounds of "Old Coyote Moon" on Sunday, August 2, August 23 and September 6, the band "Big Wednesday," featuring members of the legendary "Surfaris," on Sunday, August 16
and September 13. Cost varies from $10 to $15. All shows are from 3:30 to 7 p.m. A live DJ will also spin tunes poolside on select Sundays throughout the summer.
