Pet Friendly Hotel Rooms at The Westin Mammoth
Pet Owners Find There's Room at the Inn for Their Four-Legged Traveling Companions at The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth, and The Westin Verasa, Napa.
Two Properties Provide Everything from Luxurious Dog Beds to Welcome Packs for Pooches Mammoth Lakes, Calif. and Napa, Calif (March 10, 2009) - The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth and The Westin Verasa, Napa have gone to the dogs by offering a set of amenities designed exclusively for man's (and woman's) best friend. Make no bones about it, the two resorts pamper pooches with luxurious dog beds and amenities that will have pets feeling as welcome as their owners.
While humans are sleeping on Westin's famous ten-layer Heavenly Beds® , four-legged guests can enjoy luxurious dog beds custom-designed with oversized pet pillows by Eloise Pet Accessories, a doggie line described as "where style and fashion meet man's best friend." Eloise's pet accessories are favorites of celebrities including Daryl Hannah, Dyan Cannon and Deborah Messing. Westin worked with Eloise to design dog beds that mirror their hotels' human beds and guest room design, creating dog beds featuring miniature Heavenly Bed duvets.
Besides the beds, The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth and The Westin Verasa, Napa will offer food and water bowls and temporary I.D. tags with hotel contact information. In addition, a traveling tip card will be provided to all guests traveling with their dogs upon check-in, thanks to a partnership with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Other K9 ‘welcome amenities' include a Doggie Gift Bag with treats and clean-up bags in Mammoth, while The Westin Verasa provides a Heavenly Dog Welcome Pack.
The resorts definitely weren't barking up the wrong tree when catering to pet owners. With 62 million dog owners in the U.S. and 29 million who hit the road with their dogs in tow according to the Travel Industry Association of America, dog owners are a market niche that's been underserved by the travel industry. Most upscale and luxury hotel companies have varied pet policies meaning some hotels welcome dogs while others do not.
Westin, however, recognizes that dogs are an important member of the family and rolls out the red carpet to welcome them. The pet-friendly policy is likely to attract a dedicated following. According to a study of 400 dog owners commissioned by Westin's parent company Starwood, 76 percent said they would be more loyal to a hotel chain that accepted dogs, even when they weren't traveling with their pet.
The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth caters to active pooches with hundreds of miles of nearby hiking trails and a wide variety of alpine lakes, streams and creeks to go for a swim or cool off. Dogs are also welcome on Mammoth's Scenic Gondola during the summer months, where they can enjoy a bird's eye view of the Sierra before hiking down the mountain. At The Westin Verasa, Napa, K9s with an air of sophistication can embrace the Wine Country lifestyle. The Westin is located just two blocks from Downtown Napa and next door to the Oxbow Public Market, with plenty of café patios from which to take in the scenery. And at the nearby Alston Dog Park pooches can enjoy an off-leash hike or run off across the rolling countryside, as well as test their agility on the exercise course.
